The Halloween Party is a chance for linguistics undergrads, grads, and faculty to get together, build relationships and share ideas in an informal context. An annual event put on by the Linguistics Student Association, this year’s party will feature clever costumes, plenty of snacks, games, and dancing. What else is there to say? It’s a party! Come, have fun, and bring your significant other or friend! – LSA
LSA elections took place last week and we would love to announce and welcome the new elected officers, who will take charge beginning June 2013!
Undergraduate Liaison: Laura Jamison
Linguistics Program Advocate: Wendy Holmes
Secretary: Noelle Todd
Treasurer: Shombe Smith
Vice President: Alicia Stevers
President: Amanda Austin
Last Monday (March 11th) we had a delightful picnic with Dr Samraj! Thank you all who participated!
(Sadly we did not take a picture of our first picnic with Dr Kaplan… I guess we’ll just have to do it again soon!)
We’ll be having elections for LSA Officer positions on February 26, 27 and 28.
From Today to Feb 22nd we will be receiving nominations; if you would like to be considered for any position in the upcoming elections, please send in your nomination and the position you are interested in to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Being on LSA is a great way to get more involved with your professors and fellow students, as well as the academic community as a whole; it also provides many networking opportunities and lots and lots of fun.
LSA Officer Positions are those of President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Linguistics Program Advocate and Undergraduate Liaison.
To know more about each position please check the LSA Bylaws on our website (http://lsa.sdsu.edu/) and talk to us!
The elected officers will start their mandate in June, 2013, but are more than invited to participate in all LSA business as soon as they are elected. The idea is to make a smooth, productive transition from this term to the next.
